Liverpool Football Club is one of the most successful teams in world football, with 59 major trophies there is no denying their success and status. They dominated European football during the late 70’s and became the masters of the English Football League during the 70’s and 80’s. With success comes iconography, and most iconic of all, perhaps, is the kits these teams wore.
Here we have compiled a list of the 10 greatest Liverpool FC kits ever made and worn by the team. Some included for their meaning, others for their sheer beauty and class. Enjoy!
10. 1996-98 Home
This kit lasted two seasons and featured Reebok and Carlsberg logos on a classic collar, slightly baggy, home shirt. Many will remember it as the Fowler and Owen era, in which the two really began to gel and make a statement.
9. 2006-07 Away
Not immediately the most popular kit ever, the Liverpool fans began to warm to the bright yellowness of this kit which had a lot to do with the fact it did look great on the players. This was also the year that Liverpool made it to the Champions League final after winning it a couple of seasons before. However, the club weren’t good enough on the day and ended up losing to AC Milan.
8. 1992-93 Away
Adidas introduced the green away kit the previous year, which wasn’t loved by the majority of fans to begin with. However, fans hoping for a change were let down when Carlsberg began to sponsor the club, meaning the green of the kit perfectly complimented the beer company’s branding.
7. 2010-11 Away
Although the season wasn’t the best for the club, the away kit was especially popular among the fans. The white of the shirt was perfectly complimented by the thin red stripes down the front and arms of the kit.
